About the event

"Grounded 3"

Grounded returns to Trio Art Studio and Gallery as a thoughtful survey of contemporary ceramic practice, bringing together professional potters from across Victoria in an exhibition shaped by material intelligence, cultural memory, and a deep attentiveness to form. Set within the distinctive atmosphere of the Trio Road, Kyneton gallery, the exhibition invites viewers to consider clay not only as a functional medium, but as a language through which resilience, history, and experimentation can be made visible.

Spread across three galleries, newly introduced handmade works and vintage works, draw on both European and Asian traditions while remaining firmly anchored in the conditions of the present. Visitors encounter deeply coloured vessels, special tea bowls, elegant bottle forms, and sculptural works that push beyond inherited conventions to test new visual and tactile possibilities. The exhibition rewards slow looking and repeated visits: each grouping offers a different conversation between utility and abstraction, tradition and invention, intimacy and scale.

Join the makers and friends of the gallery for opening refreshments on Sunday 30 August, 2–5pm.

Exhibition dates: 30 August – 20 September. Gallery hours: Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 10am–4pm.
