Brides of the Bank presents wedding dresses, photographs, and accessories worn by brides from local families from the late nineteenth century through the mid-twentieth century.
The exhibition brings together exquisite garments that marked some of life’s most personal commitments.
From Victorian-era craftsmanship to the elegance of later bridal wear, each piece reflects individual stories as well as highlighting fashion movements. Veils, gloves, shoes, and archival images offer glimpses into weddings both modest and formal, highlighting the role of tradition, family, and care in preserving these objects.
Exhibition entry also includes access to the entire Bank of New South Wales museum building, and the outdoor exhibits including the original bluestone stables, servant’s kitchen, and laundry.
