MEET OUR 2026 FESTIVAL ROYAL FAMILY!

We are delighted to introduce the wonderful Royal Family representing the 2026 Kyneton Daffodil & Arts Festival

Royals – Jess & Roh

Long-time locals Jess and Roh are wonderful supporters of our Kyneton community. Jess has played a pivotal role in the Social Foundry and gives countless volunteer hours to local events, while Roh contributes through the Kyneton Tennis Club and is a great supporter of local business.

Junior Royals – Lettie & Harry from Kyneton Primary School

Lettie is kind, caring, adventurous and always ready to help others. A keen soccer player with a big personality and even bigger dreams, she brings plenty of sparkle to our Royal Family!

Harry is friendly, thoughtful and a wonderful team player with a great sense of humour. He loves his footy and is a very proud Western Bulldogs supporter!

Junior Royals – Chris & Scarlett from Our Lady of the Rosary
Chris is a kind and caring young man who loves being involved in his school and community. He is also sports mad, especially when it comes to soccer, cricket and running.

Scarlett is a dedicated student who loves dancing, performing and gymnastics. Bright, helpful and enthusiastic, she couldn’t be more excited to be one of this year’s Junior Royals!

We can’t wait to have Jess, Roh, Lettie, Harry, Chris and Scarlett joining us throughout the Festival and, of course, waving to everyone during the Grand Parade!

Live music all afternoon at Kyneton Mechanics Institute, Saturday 5th September!

Bloombox Open Mic kicks things off from 2pm to 5pm, an open mic for young local artists aged 12-25, presented by KDAF and supported by MITS. Entry is free (registration recommended, these MITS events sell out).

Then from 6:30pm to 10:30pm, @‌tyldencroniesevents bring you Flower Power, a night of live music and 70s flower power vibes. @the_corduroys_ open, followed by Naarm band @laura.norda_ , with local DJs into the night. Jinky's food truck (@jinkys_au) and a full licensed bar on site. Everyone welcome, bring your Nan, bring your baby.

We invite you to join us on an exclusive bus tour of the grounds and property of Rock House (Rock House Kyneton). The management has generously agreed to open for this year's festival. Due to privacy and the expansive size of the property, we are offering guided tours lasting 90 minutes. Guests will be picked up from, and returned to, Kyneton Railway station.

A brief history

Rock House was built in 1858 by Edward Argyle, a prominent district squatter, flour miller and businessman.

An earlier four-room cottage had served as the centre of the St Agnes Run, which was taken up by Edward Argyle and Abraham Booth in 1850. Booth and Argyle, prosperous Melbourne butchers, purchased the St Agnes Run at the end of 1849 and secured a pre-emptive right over the homestead area.

The homestead is a substantial two-storey bluestone residence with projecting service wings that form an unusual central rear courtyard. Although constructed primarily of stone, some brickwork is evident. The bricks were made from clay excavated on the building site. The house is an outstanding example of an early Victorian pastoral homestead, built during a period when squatters were gaining greater security of land tenure.

Rock House is clearly visible from Campaspe Place and the Kyneton Racecourse. Edward Argyle's son, Sir Stanley Argyle, later served as Premier of Victoria.

Condensing a drama or a comedy into a one-act play challenges actors and directors to creatively present their best entertainment. 2026 marks the 68th Kyneton Festival of One Act Plays with theatre companies from all over Victoria competing for a number of generous awards and prizes.

This year's theme is ‘ANYTHING GOES!’ With its stunning architecture, the Bluestone Theatre forms the perfect backdrop for a night of drama, laughs, entertainment and engaging performances, such as the pictured TheatreBOX "Beyond The Vows", voted Best Play 2024, and Gemco Players "Uke Belongs to Me", Best Actress Michelle Drinnan 2024.

This weekend was also a little bit symbolic and very special — a changing of the guard.

For decades, the wonderful volunteers at Kyneton Rotary have been the ones putting up these flags. They have put in countless hours, perfected the process and, importantly, helped make it easier for the next generation to take the reins.

In his 17 years in Niger with World Vision, Tony from Myrtleford in Victoria, discovered an embarrassingly simple and affordable method of regreening land by reviving damaged trees rather than planting new ones. It’s a technique that not only alleviates poverty and soaks up carbon, but also costs almost 36 times less than planting trees from scratch.

This is not some green fantasy. Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) has, from small beginnings, already regreened more than 18 million hectares in 27 countries, reduced our carbon footprint and transformed millions of lives and livelihoods. FMNR offers tangible hope for climate change, as well as a deeply moving account of one man’s faith-journey.

In a seemingly hopeless crisis, this is the good-news story that will move hearts and hands to care for the planet.

An Emergency Services Open Day held in Kyneton for the community to meet and greet with Victoria Police and emergency services partners.

Kyneton Police Station – Inaugural Emergency Services Community Open Day

Saturday 5th September 2026 – 10 am until 3 pm

Step behind the badge and discover the rich history and modern policing of the Macedon Ranges at Kyneton Police’s inaugural Emergency Services Community Open Day.

Bring the whole family for a unique opportunity to tour the Kyneton Police Station and meet members from some of Victoria Police’s specialist units and our partners including @kynetoncfa, SES and Ambulance Victoria.

Visitors will also have the rare chance to step inside the very cell that housed Ned Kelly for three weeks in 1870, offering a fascinating glimpse into one of Australia's most famous historical stories.

There will be plenty of family-friendly activities throughout the day, including:

Join @macedonrangessc Biodiversity Officer, Dr Jaclyn Harris, for a special community event at Bald Hill Reserve, Kyneton, in recognition of National Threatened Species Day.

FREE RSVP!

Enjoy a guided walk through the reserve and take in the beauty of this unique landscape. Attendees will learn about the importance of bushland reserves like Bald Hill and the vital role they play in protecting threatened species and local biodiversity.

Bald Hill Reserve is a 96-hectare expanse of forest, woodland, and grassland. Notably, it provides habitat for threatened species such as the Clover Glycine (Glycine latrobeana), Matted Flax Lily (Dianella amoena), and the Brown Toadlet (Pseudophryne bibronii).

National Threatened Species Day is held on 7 September each year to highlight the plight of endangered species, marking the date of the death of the last remaining Tasmanian Tiger.

Meet at: Bald Hill Reserve, Mount St Marys Lane entrance.

Bring coat, covered shoes, hat and gloves- walk will be modified if raining.

Terrain- gravel path, undulating with some small inclines
