Stockroom Kyneton stands as a beacon of contemporary art in regional Victoria. Housed within the historic walls of a 1850s butter factory, covering an impressive 1000 square meters, the gallery finds its place in Kyneton’s vibrant style precinct on Piper Street. Here, it proudly exhibits the visionary works of some of Australia’s most esteemed contemporary artists, makers, and designers.

Upcoming Exhibitions
2nd September – 1st October
Opening – Saturday 2nd September, 6pm

Gallery One: Robert Hague – Empire

Robert Hague’s lithographic prints bring together the feel and grandeur of antiquity with an often-biting commentary on the modern world. By embracing classical techniques, he manages to make the bitter into the sweet and shows us that contemporary art can be timeless. From his studio in Melbourne, Hague prints his own work directly from limestone slabs, on a 1940’s Charles Brand lithography press. He has exhibited widely and is represented in major public collections such as the National Gallery of Australia and the National Gallery of Victoria

Gallery Two & Project Space: In-Kind Collective – Something Holding these Bodies In-Kind

“Something Holding these Bodies In-Kind (30:55)” allows for individual journeys to be drawn through the notion of an artist-collective. An artist-collective is defined as an initiative resulting from a group of artists working together, under their own management, towards shared aims. For this exhibition the artists will consider what current journeys they are on. Through a process of shared creative practice they will begin to dismantle the individuality of their own projects, finding threads of exchange with one another. The resulting work will simultaneously challenge the independence of their own work while considering what an artist-collective can be.
